While most people seem to prefer looking at full moons,
a
lunar crescent is more interesting to me,
especially when it is just above the horizon. On July 4th, 2008,
I climbed up to the roof of my house to take some pictures of fireworks and
saw the setting moon over the
Republic of Boulder.. Too bad that
the fireworks didn't start until shortly after it set.
These pictures were taken with a
Canon 40D DSLR with a
55-250 lens at full tele
on a tripod using a remote wireless release. Because of the long
exposure, you actually see some motion blur on the moon as it
moves across the sky.
