Various Monitors in Use

• Pingem has been very helpful in watching machine/network status
• Don`t forget to check other services - dns, email, lpd, mountd, nfs, web, etc.
• spingem does "smart" job of detecting true server outages (vs. network related)
•     Easy in routed network - just check SUBNET.254
• Almost disk full conditions (logger is your friend! ;-)
• Coupling with steam agent on RAID arrays
• Track overtemps by having gettemp use syslog
• Monitor runaway processes by having yaps use syslog
• Monitor and *AUTOFIX* nscd problems by triggering action
• Mr. Swatch can auto-page/Email letting you know right away about problems!
      but we have some "throttling" so this doesn`t get out of hand ...
