Some misc. "tricks" for notification

• It all comes down to sending an Email
•     BUT ... an Email can turn into a Page! ;-)
• Always send to SNA admin entries in addhost
• Also explicity web-managed list of admins per server
      Associated time range and severity levels per admin
          i.e. send Email to "alek" any time for any condition
          i.e. send Email to "alek.page" during "normal" hours for major stuff
              All editable via the web (with Email notification of changes)
• Some misc. smarts (as noted, spingem uses a dependancy list)
      Easy in routed network - just ping SUBNET.254
• Other misc. throttling to reduce continual notifies (exponential backoff)
      You should not need to be Paged a dozen times to act!
• Mostly stateless ... so hard to say OK after being NOT-OK
      Also really difficult for some things (ex: steamd/vxfs errors)
  
  
• False Positive are unavoidable (some aren`t "really" false BTW! ;-)
• Design is more toward Sysadmins rather than Network Folks ...
