Fairview Knights "C" Baseball: July 16th, 2016 against Monarch
I usually take still images of the boys playing ... but for this game, I decided to have some fun with the
60FPS (frames per second) High-Def video of the Canon 7DM2. With still images, I have the luxury of
20 Megapixels (10X of 1920x1080!) shooting in RAW mode (plus 1/8000s shutter speed versus 1/4000s), so it's easy to crop and
process the image to look snazzy.
But video is 6 times faster than the 10FPS of still images, which makes a significant difference in
capturing the swinging bat as seen below.
Video at 60 frames/per second captures quite a bit of the bat swing as seen here with Luke
Use the controls to play, step, pause, slow-down, and/or speed-up the animation.

Hit "+" four times to see in real-time speed - the bat swings fast!!!
Shooting stills at 10 FPS would have only captured the first and last image above

Video of John, Kyle, Alex, Ian, Griffin, Cole, Kenton, Luke, and Liam smacking the ball
Snippets from above video at 10X Super Slo-Mo!
Since the camera/microphone was about 50 feet from home base, you see the bat hit the ball
slightly before you hear it
Closeups of various swings from videos - note shadows as the sun moves higher in the sky

Photography Notes: Pictures taken with a Canon 7DM2 and 70-200/2.8 lens with remote trigger for
still pictures - have to manually engage video. Typically shooting a maximum 1/8000s (video is limited to 1/4000s) shutter speed to freeze the ball. There is some "bending" of the bat/ball which is due
to the Rolling Shutter inherent in most cameras. Pictures taken mid-late morning ... too bad not earlier
as would be more/lower light on the players coming from 1st base.
