Boarding and Departing on our Antarctica Cruise Ship
After an enjoyable hike around Terra Del Fuego Park (and a cutting the time a bit close!), it was time to board and depart to Antarctica on our ship.
Here's more pictures of the Ocean Nova which would be our "home" for the next 19 days and everyone
was pretty darn excited!
Ocean Nova docked at Ushuaia, Argentina (luggage has already been loaded)
A bus brings you inside the Marina right up to the ship - Don with his (very nice) camera gear
George from OARS - he's the founder of a world-class rafting company
Our fearless Expedition Leader Conrad!!!
Guides Alex and Brando with my passport ... I wonder if I'll get it back ... ;-)
Everyone is now aboard, but I guess we needed some last minute fuel
Last look at the Ocean Nova as seen from the National Geographic Explorer
Everyone gathered in the Panoramic Lounge for Introductions
The Guides - Art, Kate (doctor), Andy, Brando, Johnnie Shackers. Seated: Alex, Bronwyn, Mark
We went back outside to watch us depart from Ushuaia ... and start looking for birds!
George probably was itching to get in a Kayak
Most people had their cameras out as Linda does here
Glen is all smiles as the Aft Flag flaps in the breeze
We return back to the Panoramic Lounge for the traditional champagne departure toast
Expedition Leader Conrad and Ship Captain Alexey
Lindsay (Glen & James in background) is pretty happy about starting the Antarctica adventure
Everyone was very excited - Carol and Jim with Penguin name tag
The Ocean Nova cruises past the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse on the Beagle Channel
The Pilot Ship came out around midnight to retrieve the channel pilot
As seen in the pictures, the weather was just glorious for our departure
out of Ushuaia and after traveling down the Beagle Channel, we headed
East (and slightly North) toward the Falkland Islands as we spent the
next day on the Scotia Sea.
