Spring/2003 GRU Ether Bunnies
As an amateur photographer, it's fun to take the camera out to an
occasional frisbee game and shoot some pictures while sitting
out my turn - click here to see more of 'em
including the contendor for the
longest car in GRU! ;-)
Here are some misc. pictures shot on a doubleheader on Sunday, June 8th, 2003.
Notice also that the fields/grass are looking MUCH better than last year
when we had the draught - for more info on that, check out
watching
grass grow - one nice thing about the lack of water is I didn't need my
weed eater,
weed whacker, or any
weed killer to handle the
weeds.
P.S. For you camera buffs out there, these were shot with a Canon G3 digicam,
which is a 4 megapixel, 4X optical zoom. While it doesn't quite
have the "reach" of the Nikon 5700 (which is 5 megapixel, 8X optical zoom),
it still shoots darn nice shots and rival/surpasses it in some respects
in my opinion -
read more here if you are interested
but can't touch something like a Canon 5D SLR - see the
stepping santa pictures.
There are two sequences at the bottom demonstrating the "motor drive mode"
which does 2.5 frames/second - really not quick enough for sports,
but still fun to play around with. I was shooting aperature priority
of F4.5, and with the sunny day (typically behind me), I was getting
anywhere from 1/500 to 1/1000 shutter speeds. Stephen Krog shot some
of these while I was playing.
An unknown person make a giant successful leap to swat this pass to Trudi
Michael goes up WAY high to block this pass to John - count the legs! ;-)
Can you say "Hospital Throw" |
Lisa has a little less traffic on this one |
Lisa fires from the end zone through a leg block |
Another throw at the camera now from mid-field |
People just like to throw to the camera!
| 4 megapixel goofing around ... ;-) |

Incoming Frisbee at Steve |
Another incoming frisbee at Stephen |

Captain Gary puts the "D" on Steve |
Same "D-face" presented to Seth |
Captain Gary shows his "O-face" |
Now that is pancaking a disk |
Everyone lines up to watch Steve catch this score |
John emerges from the crowd with another score |
John slips one by Michael's tight D |
Mike gets a throw off downfield |
I'm not sure if Vicki ends up with this one |
But there is no doubt on this grab! |
Gary fires down field |
It's going ... |
... going ... |
... and Mike comes up with the catch |
Mike "takes one" for the team - ouch! ;-) |
But he turns to throw a bender to Gary |
who makes a great catch in traffic |
A closeup of that |
