Here some pictures/videos of the installation - it ran pretty much on schedule. Delivery was planned for
July 31st, 2023 and a two-day install starting August 2nd ... but they wrapped up the previous job early, so called me and
asked if they could come over the afternoon of August 1st. They finished after a half-day on August 3rd, so
the estimate of two days was pretty good.
The crew did a good job - feeding 'em burgers probably helped! ;-)
Here's what my roof looked like just before the installation
I was the last drop-off of the day for the Tesla Delivery Truck
Well packaged pallet!
This is what a Solar Installer's Van looks like! ;-)
Tesla uses the "Zep" system (info here and here)... so first thing to install is the "Mighty Hooks"
While they are careful to drill into the joists, they also add "black goop" for maximum waterproofing
Super-heavy duty tape is also applied to further reduce the chance of any leaks
Here's what that looks like - note existing roof tiles replaced with metal flashing
So if I ever break a roof tile, I've got lots of extra's now! ;-)
The "frame" is attached to the "Mighty Hooks" - bottom piece is the skirt
End of (half) day 1 - two panels installed ... and tools ready to go to work tomorrow
