Jon says move to Marabou Ranch
So my friend Jon moved up to Steamboat Springs last year. And we had a great time visiting over the July 4th, 2005 weekend as can be seen in the pictures to the left.He keeps "hinting" that we should move up there ... and recently mentioned some new development called "Marabou Ranch" that sounds pretty sweet. High-end custom working ranch (but your option how much you want to work) with large lots and close to world-class skiing and outstanding recreational opportunities the other three seasons.
BTW, I looked up the word Marabou ... and it is a large African stork of the genus Leptoptilos - my guess is there aren't too many of these at Marabou Ranch ... but there certainly is tons of other wildlife there.
Update: Jon took me out there during my Steamboat Visit in July, 2006 - pretty darn awesome place - it's much closer to town that I thought it was, but when you are there, you don't see anything except miles of open views. Sounds like everything is totally first class - even fiber being laid for broadband Internet - sweet!
It's a bit out of my price range, but if I win the lottery, I'd buy in a heartbeat. Jon has tons more info about Steamboat Homes and some nice pictures on his Marabou Ranch Blog.
